Scottish Gaelic Given Names:
For Women
Draft in Progress Edition

by Sharon L. Krossa

Last updated 4 Mar 2003

This is a draft edition! It is very incomplete! See the first part of this article. You have been warned!

See the Introduction for an explanation of what is contained in this article.

Contents

In the tables below, a question mark, ?, after a name indicates it is a speculative pre-1600 Scottish Gaelic spelling; parentheses, ( ), around a name indicates it is a non-Gaelic form (e.g., Scots or Latin); and two asterisks, **, after a name indicates that no form has been determined for it in any language. An "X" in a column indicates there is at least one known example of the name used for a Scottish Gael in the century indicated at the top of that column. See the full entry for a name for further information and specifics about evidence, forms, and years used. An asterisk, *, in a column indicates the same thing except that the evidence has not yet been included in the entry for that name.
