Florence

Florence was not dominated by one large convent, like the Venetian La Virgine. As such, the names here come from multiple locations. The kind of Italian spoken in Florence is the ancestor of modern Italian. The spelling variants found here often reflect one relatively Latinized spelling and one vernacular spelling.
